These 4 years snist has changed a lot but this hasn't changed anything for the students here. They say one has to be an insider to know how the system works. But with snist things are a little different - 4 years and we are still struggling to find an answer to "whattheheckiswrongwithsnist". In this post i will attempt at giving a gist of everything at snist[the life here(or the absence of it), the landscape, and other things not worth mentioning] hoping this will bring us a step closer to THE answer.
To start off, let me talk about the canteen. Previously this looked like a stable, producing food which tasted like bullshit. Now things have improved - it looks like a stable with windows.The food too has improved - now it tastes slightly better than hay and now even the canteen people taste the food(before spitting it out and disinfecting their throat's). No wonder with a canteen like this snistians are mocked by everyone else.
next the technology.Well now snist boasts of campus wide wifi,amazing connectivity,high end systems blah blah blah blah.But whats the use of this when you cant actually use it.The other day we were not even given the session id to connect wirelessly, this is really pathetic. The computers though have vastly improved. Compared to the hopeless computers which took days to start, the new ones are amazing.The other good thing is the overhead projector,each room has one and no one uses them.But the biggest surprise has been the range of worms and viruses available on the network here - Beastuh's usb drive got screwed and my HD got jacked.
neither of the above 2 can compete with the snist landscape when it comes to absolute idioticity. i have no idea what the management is thinking.i doubt if even god himself has the faintest idea as to what is going on. Stupidification of the landscape is going on at a ridiculously exponential phase. In the midst of all this we get to see some really weird stuff. For instance the tiles in the main block. I don't understand what satisfaction people get by removing them and laying them again and again removing them... either the college does not have any idea about how to spend the world bank money or they are all gay(or both). All this is going on while there is a shortage of class rooms. The amazing thing this year is that one of the batches does not have a class room to call it their own. But here snist has invented yet another "snist original". Those poor people are allocated class rooms dynamically - when some other class is vacated due to lab practicals.
Sticking to landscape, football ground looks like a minefield,basket ball court is still crap, everything else is rubbish. However for a gamer, this will be nostalgic since it will remind one of dust2,arabia and blackforest.
next are the urinals.When i was new to snist, this used to cause a lot of trouble. Back then, there was no sign or board to tell if it was a girls room or boys room.Few of my friends even got whacked good for entering the girls toilet. i don't know about the other toilets but the boys toilets are utter rubbish. This is largely due to those idiots practicing 3 pointers there. This explains why there are lots of amazing athletes in snist though there are no facilities. Firstly since you cant actually walk all the way you either need to perfect at precise shooting or be an amazing long jumper. this also explains why most snistians are also expert deep sea divers. Since the canteen does not have a urinal, snist also boasts of many 500m dash gold medalists. But the funniest thing that happened with urinals was when the urinals in the main block were newly opened. It had a watchman guarding it who shooed off students telling this wasn't meant for students. I can only pity the guys who had come running from canteen.
Enough of theory,now let me show you the layout and landscape of snist.
